This week, Damien and Jeff were joined on the program by Cody Goodwin, who covers Iowa football for the Daily Iowan. Cody was recently featured in Richard Deitsch's column on The Monday Morning Quarterback, discussing how the current generation of young adults take in the NFL game. Cody brought a unique perspective to the conversation, and was able to shed some light on the treatment of student journalism at Grambling, and the set up of the Daily Iowan as an operation independent of the school itself.
Iowa went into Columbus last weekend, and won the first half, but Ohio State took over in the second half. Damien, Cody, and Jeff talked about the Ohio State 34-24 win over Iowa and the direction of both programs. We also talked about this Hawkeye coaching staff in the present, and what to expect in the future.
Florida State had the big win, and our Roundtable jumped on the Florida State bandwagon after their performance in Death Valley over the weekend. The dominant Bobby Bowden teams of the 90s came up, because why wouldn't they? Oregon won by a lot, UCLA was handed their first loss, and the sky was falling in the SEC.
This week, Iowa has Northwestern at Kinnick Stadium, but the Wildcats might not have their entire depth chart available. Ohio State will host Penn State, a different type of opponent. Out west, Oregon hosts UCLA this week, but Damien thinks Oregon State vs. Stanford might be the bigger game. Jeff loves Missouri, but Damien likes South Carolina to knock them off on Saturday.
Though Tennessee took down the Gamecocks, none of us are crazy enough to give them a chance against the almighty Crimson Tide.
